Woodsport is an independent furniture studio based in Minnesota. Mixing traditional techniques with an experimental approach, Woodsport has been creating fine furniture and lighting pieces for residential, corporate, and hospitality clients since being founded in 2000. Working primarily in sustainably harvested American hardwoods, designer and craftsman Scott McGlasson creates each piece by hand in our St. Paul studio. We have proudly displayed our work at trade shows such as the Architectural Digest Design Show and ICFF, and top flight craft fairs such as the Smithsonian Craft Show, American Craft Council Shows, and the SunValley Art Fair. Our work has been sold all over the US and in other countries, we have won numerous awards, and have been featured in many publications such as the New York Times, Wallpaper, Dwell, Interior Design, American Craft, Fine Woodworking and many others.

FAQ

What is the process for ordering?
Furniture and lighting pieces can be ordered through this website - just send us an email to start the process, inquire about pricing and availability, or request a tear-sheet. Studio visits are welcomed. Our showroom is stocked with examples of pieces from the Woodsport collection and these are available for immediate sale. Larger pieces or multiples are typically built to order. Terms for larger items are 1/2 down, 1/2 before shipping; terms for smaller items are payment in advance. Lead times can vary from 6 to 24 weeks. Standard freight and white glove shipping available within the US and is approximately 15%. International shipping is available on some items. Many Woodsport pieces are also available through 1stdibs.

Do you do custom work?
Yes and no. Much of our work is custom made to order, but we only make our own designs. Woodsport began as a “job shop” years ago and has built just about everything under the sun. Over time the demand for Scott’s designs has grown to where pieces from the Woodsport collection are all we have the time and desire to build. Some Woodsport pieces can be customized to an extent. For example, the RM Credenza can be made in different sizes and finishes. Other pieces, such as lamps, turned tables, and stools, typically cannot be altered as their proportions have been formalized. Please inquire if you have any questions regarding custom work.

Sustainability?
We harvest much of our own lumber from the urban forest. Typically these are trees that fell victim to storms, blight, or construction projects. Lumber we purchase is FSC certified. We practice "nose to tail" woodworking, wasting nothing. We design accessories in order to use our scrap. Small pieces heat Scott's north woods sauna. Shavings end up in local chicken coops or pottery kilns. Our finishes are the finest, low and no VOC lacquers and oils.
